The Mobile Compact Optical
Tracking System (MCOTS) is a precision alt-azimuth
tracking system that is computer-based and
highly mobile. It is based on the Photo-Sonics
Compact Tracking Mount, a tried and proven
design over many years. Complete computer
integration of all sensors and controls makes
it possible to operate the system either independently
from the operator seat on the mount or from
the Remote Control Console, which can be separated
by up to 1200 feet from the pedestal. This
allows the pedestal to be located at the most
ideal tracking sight and controlled from a
sheltered environment outside the area restricted
for range safety. Longer distances are possible
by upgrading the fiber optics to single mode
fiber or the use of microwave. The high dynamic
performance of the MCOTS allows it to be located
as close as possible to a high dynamic test
item while using the shortest possible optics.
This will result in the highest quality images
and the most accurate test data.
